KARACHI: A man was killed over robbery resistance while six miscreants were taken into custody by police allegedly after exchange of fire during overnight raids at different places of the city, ARY News reported.
A man named, Yasir Mehmood, was shot dead by robbers when he offered resistance during robbery bid near Old Sabzi Mandi area of the city.
Meanwhile, police arrested two suspects in Azizabad area who were allegedly wanted in over 40 cases of crimes. The police further said the duo had also been jailed in the past.
In another raid, police arrested three robbers allegedly after exchange of fire in Nazimabad area.
Separately, a robber was arrested in an injured condition after an encounter with police in 5-D Sector of Surjani Town.
Meanwhile, Sindh Rangers’ special policing powers in the city which were granted for three months in January this year expired on Friday midnight.
Sindh Rangers have evacuated the check posts in the city.
Moreover, the home department had submitted a summary to provincial chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah before expiry of the powers, for another 90-days extension in the paramilitary agency’s policing powers in the city.
