A massive explosion near Saudi Embassy occurred when SSP Farooq Awan was on his way towards home. The explosion was so loud that heard in far areas of the city including Malir and Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The blast also damaged the window glasses of buildings located nearby.
According to details, SSP Farooq Awan was the target of the blast and his bullet proof vehicle and a police mobile damaged badly due to attack while Farooq Awan remained safe and sustained minor injuries.
Police and Bomb disposal Squad cordoned off the area and started investigation soon after the explosion occurred.
DIG Police Abdul Khaliq Shaikh said that bomb was planted in a car.
