The power outage continued for several hours tormented citizens in Saddar, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Lyari, Old City area, Sultanabad and adjoining areas.

The residents of Shirin Jinnah Colony and various sectors of North Karachi staged protests against power outages outside the K-Electric offices.

According to earlier reports a K-Electric high tension line tripped causing the power breakdown.

The spokesman of K-Electric Fakhar Ahmed, talking to ARY News, termed the reports about tripping of the high tension line as baseless. He said the technical fault at the Queens Road grid station has been addressed and the power supply has been restored to the affected areas of the city.

Distraught by soaring temperatures and scorching heat coupled with long hours of load shedding, citizens took to streets in protest in various areas of the city against unannounced power outages.
