Karachi temperature reaches 36°C — breaks 20 year record

According to the Meteorological Department, temperature in the city soared to 36°C today, breaking a 20 year record for the highest temperature in February ever. According to the website of the Met Department, the city’s forecast includes a sunny day till Sunday and mostly sunny days till next Wednesday.

“Mainly dry weather is expected over most parts, while cold weather in northern areas of the country. Cloudy weather with chances of light rain at one or two places is expected in Quetta division,” read the forecast for the next 24 hours for the country.

Also, dry weather is likely to prevail in Sindh for the next 24-48 hours, according to the Meteorological Department’s website.

the warm temperature for today is an unprecedented one in recent years, as far as the month of February is concerned. Karachi experienced a deadly heatwave last year, when the temperature sizzled to more than 40°C. As many as 1260 people had died due to the deadly heat, affecting mostly Muslims fasting in the month of Ramazan.
