KARACHI: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a traffic police’s official along with his two accomplices after an encounter in Malir, area of Karachi, ARY News reported.
Police said that the three-member gang was snatching mobile phones and other valuables from the passersby in Sukhan area of Malir when a police patrolling party arrived there.
As the suspects saw the police, the opened fire at the police but the officials in a rapid action apprehended all the tree suspects.
Police said that the suspect, Taqudas Ali, a traffic cop, was deployed at Model Colony traffic section as ‘Munshi’. The three-member gang was involved in cellphone-snatching, robberies and other heinous crimes.
The police have lodged a case against the suspects and launched investigations against them.

Earlier, Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) on January 2, had claimed to have arrested nine suspects involved in creating and selling counterfeit arms licenses as well as illegal weapons.
The arrested men include five arms dealers, police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) CIA Arif Haneef had said the suspects were arrested during a ‘sting operation’ from different areas in Karachi and added that weapons made in the US were also recovered from their possession.
