Karachi: Two policemen killed in gunmen ambush
KARACHI: Two police officers were killed and another injured when armed assailants opened fire on a police vehicle in Dhoraji area of the metropolis, ARY News reported Sunday.
All personnel received head injuries who were brought to a private hospital where two of the cops succumbed to their injuries during medical treatment.
The slain cops have been identified as Raja Younus and Shehanshah.
According to our reporter Nazir Shah, the police personnel were on routine patrol when they came under intense attack near Dawood Public School in Dhoraji area of the city.
Following the firing incident, the law enforcement agencies reached the spot and shifted the injured personnel to a nearby private hospital.
The forensic team collected 20 shells of 9mm and 30 Bore pistol from the crime scene.
Police during the initial investigation said that the attack was carried out by two different weapons.
The injured police personnel has been identified as Iftiqar. The motive behind the incident is still unknown and investigation is underway.
Inspector General (IG) Sindh A.D Khawaja has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from Deputy Inspector General (DIG) East Faisal Abdullah about the incident while directing him to ensure provision of medical facilities to the injured personnel.
