Karachi will come and show its support for Karachi Kings, says Salman Iqbal
KARACHI: Karachi Kings’ owner Salman Iqbal on Thursday urged people of Karachi to come and support their team at the Karachi Kings launch on Friday, ARY News reported.
“Cricket is Karachi’s heartbeat and I am hopeful that people of the city will come to the stadium and show their support for the game and send a message to the world that Karachi is alive and kicking,” said Mr Iqbal while speaking during ARY News show 11th Hour.
The Karachi Kings team launch will be held at National Stadium, Karachi, on Friday. Prominent artists like Shehzad Roy, Shazia Khushk, Komal Rizvi and Asim Azhar will perform at the event.
Answering a question about his hopes from his team, he maintained that a owner’s job is to select his best team and send them to contest the match and then it is upon the players to prove their mettle.
Mr Salman Iqbal, who is also the President and CEO of ARY Digital Network, claimed that this year, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be more successful than its previous edition as “excitement is all-time high”.
He also praised Chairman Executive Committee PCB, Najam Sethi, for his resolve to start the Twenty20 league for Pakistan.
‘Karachiites should introduce themselves as Karachi Kings’
Chairman Executive Committee PCB, Najam Sethi, who also spoke during the ARY News show, expressed happiness that this year franchises are arranging events, finding talent and mobilising fans for their teams.
“I will take this opportunity to urge people of Karachi to identify themselves as Karachi Kings” said Sethi.
As Karachi Kings’ owner Salman Iqbal pressed Sethi for a PSL semi-final in Karachi, Sethi said that he will make all efforts to arrange the PSL final in Karachi next year.
