KARACHI: The residents of Karachi experienced pleasant weather and drizzle as the weather changed for the better in the early hours of the Friday morning.

Seeming like nature’s parting gift for the last day of Ramazan.

Areas including I.I. Chundrigar Road, Nazimabad, University Road, Mosamiyat, and Gulistan-e-Johar experienced light rain and bout of cool wind. Shara e Faisal, Shah Faisal Colony, Airport, Malir, Kharadar and Tower areas also received light rainfall and drizzle.

The wet spell also brought power cuts in some parts of the city right after the last seher of this holy month.

The light rain did wonders for the otherwise hot weather that had gripped the city for the most of the month of Ramazan.

Last week the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted light drizzle that was to  break the spell of the ongoing heat wave in the metropolis.

Abdul Rasheed, Director PMD, said that the monsoon clouds are gradually heading towards Karachi and the monsoon season can be expected to start at the beginning of July.

Just last year in Karachi heavy rain poured in different areas of Karachi which left several streets flooded and many locals gravely affected. The city of lights also faced prolonged power cuts and electrical failures as a consequence of the downpour.

The rainfall, flooding the roads resulted in at least 11 people losing their lives in different rain-related incidents including drowning, electrocution, and ceiling collapse. Among the 11 victims, four were children.
