Lahore: A mother is usually said to be the backbone of the family. To call Kauser Parveen this would be a huge understatement. After the unfortunate loss of her husband she had been left to fend for herself and her children.
Many of us will never go through a struggle like this in our lives, yet this is something Kauser lives with day in and day out. She had very few options to choose from and things could have very easily gone from bad to worse.
However she took the situation she had and made the most of it and thus has proven to be an inspiration for all of us. She bravely did not rely on any support from her family, and using the resources she had, started driving a rickshaw to make ends meet.
Although an option was there for Kauser to make her young daughter work in order to help the family going, she decided this was not the future she wanted for her daughter and gave the best gift a parent can give a child, the gift of education.
Kauser explains “I have this very big wish that my daughter studies.” Her daughter can carry her education with her for the rest of her life and ultimately use it to achieve anything she wants to. Kauser Parveen has sacrificed her life in order for her daughter to be able to live hers to the fullest potential.
With the help of her stylish pink rickshaw she drops off and picks up her daughter from school who is currently in the 5th grade. In between doing so she continues her rickshaw service all the way until the day is done. Her daughter states, “She picks and drops me, always makes food. She does all the work. She wants that I study and become something.”
As you can probably tell Kauser’s day is pretty busy with little time to rest, but it will be all worth it in the end when she will be able to see how far her daughter has come. She has had to work hard and has been dealt some pretty unfavorable circumstances to say the least, however her sacrifice will help her daughter build a strong legacy that will last multiple generations to come.
Kauser’s story is one of grit, determination and ultimately triumph. She is a testament to how we as humans can overcome so many of life’s obstacles, and using a bit of courage and outside-of-the-box thinking we can overcome any challenge.
