ISLAMABAD: The election commission has ordered Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan to submit his reply over a disqualification plea, by June 7, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

A five-member bench of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza today heard petition of Hashim Ali Bhutta against Imran Khan.

The bench rejected a request of Imran Khan to adjourn sine die the petition seeking his disqualification over the collection of party funds through ‘prohibited’ means.

Petitioner Bhutta’s counsel argued that Khan, being party head, had submitted a certificate from 2010 to 2015 stating that the PTI had not collected funds through prohibited means but there was evidence that the party funds were collected through forbidden means.

PTI chairman’s counsel, Shahid Gondal, informed the commission that a similar petition of Hanif Abbasi was being heard in the Supreme Court, requesting an adjournment in the ECP’s hearing of the matter.

The chief election commissioner however questioned the failure of the PTI chief to submit his reply.

He ordered Imran Khan to submit his reply by June 7.
