Khaqan Abbasi to challenge handing over gas control to provinces

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has decided to challenge the handing over of Gas control to provinces in Council of Common Interests (CCI), ARY News reported.

While addressing the attendants of a ceremony arranged by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Thursday, the minister said the gas control has been handed over to provinces after 18th amendment adding that Urea is being used by every province so gas should be provided to provinces on priority basis.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that gas shortage would be overcome with the addition of more gas in the system.

"To overcome shortage of gas would take some time as deficiency of it cannot be vanquished in a short time”, he added.

Referring the LNG import, the Minister said “It is the only immediate solution to overcome Gas shortage in the country.”

He said government will save $1.20 billion by importing LNG adding that the government would ensure transparency in the import of LNG. He said the government would also take action if anyone found involved in the corruption.
