Khatm-e-Nabuwwat conference to be held in Lahore today

LAHORE: After two successive rallies, Pir Hameeduddin Sialvi will hold Khatm-e-Nabuwwat conference on Saturday (today) in front of Data Darbar shrine in Lahore.

Pir Sialvi is expected to reach Data Darbar this afternoon.

A large number of his disciples and supporters, who had pledged support to Sialvi, are expected to attend the conference, besides caretakers of various eminent shrines across the province.

Pir Hameeduddin Sialvi, a prominent spiritual leader, has been spearheading a campaign against Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah for passing ‘controversial’ remarks about the Ahmadi community with regard to Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (finality of the Prophet-hood).

The conference was previously held in Gujranwala and Faisalabad.

On Dec 24, Pir Sialvi reminded Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif of his promise of removing Rana Sanaullah.

Addressing a crowd, he said Shahbaz Sharif had stepped back from his promise. “Shahbaz Sharif had offered the law minister’s resignation, but despite several extensions, the chief minister did not fulfil his promise,” he then said to his supporters.

Makhdoom Arshad Qamar Garwah, the PML-N Ulema and Mashaikh Wing president, announced that he was parting ways with the party.

He then called upon the provincial government to fulfil its promise till Dec 31. “Shehbaz Sharif should make a choice whether to tender his resignation or sack the provincial law minister,” Sialvi asserted.

On the occasion, he also asked his disciples and supporters to not vote for the PML-N in the next general elections. “Promise me that you won’t vote for PML-N under any circumstances,” he then said.

Previously in Faisalabad, the conference was attended by caretakers of various eminent shrines across the province, pledging support to Pir of Sial Sharif and his campaign.

on Dec 10, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had suffered a major blow after five lawmakers, three MPAs and two MNAs submitted their resignations to Pir Sialvi. The resignations were announced during Khatm-e-Nabuwwat conference at Dhobi Ghat ground in Faisalabad.

In his brief address to participants of the conference, Pir Sialvi said he was not a political person and the agenda of calling this conference solely revolved around finality of prophet-hood (Khatm-e-Nabuwwat).

“As firm believers of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat, we [are] gathered here with no intention to solicit support for elections or a political agenda,” Sialvi said.

He said the country was achieved in the name of Islam but ‘Law of Shariah’ (Nizam-e-Mustafa) has been set aside.
