SUKKUR: Leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Monday lashed out at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for joining forces with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to oust him, ARY News reported.

Speaking at a press conference, he said efforts are underway to remove him as the leader of the opposition in the lower house. “Both the opposition parties have united to oust me,” he said, adding that it is their democratic right to remove him, but they will be setting a new precedent in the country by doing so.

He asked PTI chief Imran Khan to offer apology for criticizing the MQM leadership and its workers in the past and hurting sentiments of people of Karachi.

Khursheed said PTI and its chief’s acts had always benefited and strengthened Nawaz Sharif.

The PTI chief had been slamming the opposition leader for playing the role of friendly opposition in the parliament.

Quoting sources, ARY News, had reported earlier that opposition parties other than Shah’s own party (PPP) have almost decided to bring in a new leader of opposition and it could be anyone from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), or the Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed himself.

According to media reports, PTI and MQM will hold talks on Sept 26 to decide on the name of opposition leader.
