LAHORE: Opposition Leader Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah on Monday expressed grief over killing of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader Babar Butt here and urged the government for immediate arrest of culprits behind the incident.

While expressing concern over recent attacks on party leaders, the opposition leader said that no arrest had so far been made following an attack on another party leader Shoukat Basra.

It is pertinent to mention that in the attack last month, PPP leader Shoukat Basra was injured while his personal assistant was killed in an exchange of fire in Bahawalnagar district of Punjab.

“The culprits must be brought to justice else this would be considered as political terrorism”, he added.

Moreover, he said that such cowardly attacks would not discourage party workers as the PPP has struggled for democracy for decades.

Shah said if someone wanted to scare us with such cowardly acts he must remember that the PPP has passed the route of executions, lashes, imprisonments and martyrdom to restore the democracy in the country. The party will not allow violation of democracy by the people with dictatorial tendencies, he added.
