RAWALPINDI: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday said that Afghan Defence Minister’s response to recently launched Khyber-IV operation in Khyber Agency’s Rajgal Valley is unwarranted and runs counter to Pakistan Army’s efforts for better Pak-Afghan coordination and cooperation.

Calling for cooperation and coordination in fight against the common enemy in a statement, the Pakistan Army’s media wing, said that the information about Operation Khyber-IV has been shared with Afghan authorities verbally and in written twice a time.

“The information has been shared with Afghan forces as well as Resolute Support Mission and ODRP,” the statement added.

The statement insisted that rhetoric of blames and suggestive allegations are agenda of forces working against order and peace in the region, which should be avoided.

On Sunday, ISPR Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor announced to launch an operation called Khyber-4 in Rajgal Valley area of Khyber Agency.

Addressing a media conference, the ISPR DG said the operation has been launched to wipe out terrorists and consolidate gains made in other military operations to further enhance the security of Pakistan’s borders.

He said that the operation aims to secure the international border with Afghanistan by preventing Daesh and local militants on Afghan side of the border from infiltration.

In response, the Afghan defence minister said that Pakistan military should have launched the military operations in alleged terrorist centers in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta under monitoring of the US and China.

“Military operations need to be launched in both sides of the Durand Line.” The Afghan minister alleged that ” the terrorist centers are located in Pakistan; Quetta Council, Peshawar Council and Miranshah Council are Taliban groups,” the Spokesman of the Afghan minister of defence Dawlat Waziri claimed.
