Knee injury ruled Junaid Khan out of UAE series

During the practice before first ODI, Junaid Khan had twisted his knee while having a fielding drill. Following to the injury the paceman had an MRI scan. The report declared him unfit advising four to six week rest.

Chief Selector of Pakistan Moin Khan said that “He will receive treatment back home”, adding “It’s another big blow to us as he is one of our best bowlers in one-days and Tests.”

Sohail Tanvir has been named as his replacement for the second and third ODIs, scheduled to be played on October 10 and 12 respectively.

Junaid Khan has been facing injuring consistently as he had fractured a patella (the knee cap) during the Twenty20 leg of Pakistan’s series against England in the UAE in February 2012, and was subsequently out of action for four months. Last year, he was out for a month after wounding his thigh while taking a tumble during Pakistan’s tour to South Africa.
