Mystery knife attacker’s ‘friend’ arrested in Karachi
KARACHI: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested an alleged aide of the mystery knife attacker who attacked at least 15 women with a sharp object in areas around Gulistan-e-Jauhar this month, ARY News reported.
The alleged friend and aide Shahzad has confessed helping the suspected serial stabber Waseem in his criminal activity and revealed that he (Shahzad) was the one who used to do recce of Waseem’s victims.
It is pertinent to note here that a serial knife attacker attacked at least 15 women in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and adjoining areas of Karachi instilling fear among women of the city.
Police believe that Waseem, a man allegedly involved in knife attacks on women in Sahiwal and Chichawatni during 2015 t0 2016 is behind the attacks in Karachi.
Last Saturday, police released pictures of the knife attacker. A prize money of Rs0.5 million was also announced for anyone who comes up with any information regarding the attacker.
The pictures taken from a CCTV footage show a biker wearing a helmet and attacking random women. Police say the suspect is about 20 to 29 years old and his height ranges from 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inch.
