KP chief minister seeks report of South Waziristan flood losses

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtonkhwa Mahmood Khan on Saturday ordered the provincial authorities to mobilize all resources to help flood-hit victims of South Waziristan, ARY News reported.

The chief minister also sought report from officials regarding loss of human lives and damages in the wake of floods in the tribal area.

Expressing grief over loss of precious lives in the calamity, he also assured the victims that the government would extend all possible help to them.

At least two children and six women were killed in the floods in South Waziristan.

At least seven persons were killed in a flash flood in South Waziristan’s Khan Kot area on Saturday. According to District Coordination Officer Ameer Nawaz incident occurred when a flash flood hit the bus of a wedding party.

The people inside the vehicle included women and children. Three persons are also missing in the incident, the DCO added.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) report about damages occurred due to recent downpour in KP, seven people lost their live in heavy rains and gusty winds and others got injured.

The injured were moved to medical facilities for the treatment.

Three casualties were reported in Peshawar, two in Swabi and one in Kohat, said the report. Meanwhile, more than 5 houses were damaged in recent spell of heavy rains.
