PESHAWAR: State Minister for Power Abid Sher Ali alleges Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa ministers of providing protection to power thieves in the province, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
Abid Sher Ali in a press conference in Peshawar said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan should give attention over recovery of power bills instead of staging sit-ins.
The minister said that around 90% of the users in PTI members constituencies are defaulters of electricity bills.
Sher Ali requested the lawmakers to help the federal government in recovering the billed amount from defaulters.
K-P Information Minister Shah Farman responding to allegations said that the Pesco chief was the root of the problem.
Why the federal government did not replace the chief of Pesco when the chiefs of all other power companies were removed, he asked.
He alleged that the federal government providing protection to corrupt staff of PESCO.
