KARACHI: Karachi Stock Exchange closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark 100-Index gaining 1.10 per cent, or 314.83 points, to 28,843.02, ARY News reported.
High and Low were 28944.07 and 28528.19 respectively.
Total volume traded in the market was 225,532,018 and in terms of value it was 10,258,718,832.
Total traded companies were 368, among them 231 advanced, 119 declined while 18 went unchanged.
The three top traded companies were K-Electric Ltd. with a volume of 80,134,000 and price per share of 7.23 (0.56), Fauji Cement with a volume 6,477,500 of price per share of 17.51 (0.04), National Bank. with a volume 6,349,500 of price per share of 59.55 (0.67).
Market rallied by 1.1 per cent after MSCI review in which Pakistan's weight increased by more than expectations.
Market participation increased as volumes rose, said Samar Iqbal a dealer at Topline Securities.
National Bank of Pakistan rose 1.05 per cent to 59.50 rupees and Pakistan State Oil Ltd was up 3.4 per cent to 395.51 rupees.
The rupee ended at 98.60/98.65 against the dollar compared to Wednesday's close of 98.65/98.70.
