LONDON: Begum Kulsoom Nawaz’s funeral prayers were offered in London’s Regent Park Islamic Center here on Thursday, ARY News reported.

A number of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders and members of Pakistani diaspora offered the prayers in the British Capital.

According to ARY News correspondent, Nawaz Sharif’s sons Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif along with Ishaq Dar and Chauhdry Nisar were among the Pakistani leadership which offered funeral prayers.

Shehbaz Sharif is set to travel with Kulsoom Nawaz’s coffin to Lahore where she will be laid to rest after funeral prayers led by famed religious scholar Maulan Tariq Jameel.

Her sons Hussain and Hasan Nawaz will stay in London, however, her daughter Asma Nawaz will travel to Pakistan with her coffin.

The lady’s husband Mian Nawaz Sharif, daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retired) Safdar, who were serving jail time in Pakistan, were released on a five day parole after her death.

The trio along with hundreds of PML-N workers and leaders are set to take part in her Lahore funeral on Friday.

Kulsoom Nawaz breathed her last at a hospital on September 11 in London after a prolonged illness. The political career of the former first lady remains far from any controversy, unlike embroilment of her family members in different cases.

Born into a Kashmiri family in Lahore, she attended Islamia College and Foreman Christian College University for her graduation. Kulsoom was married to Nawaz Sharif, with whom she has four children. Kulsoom Nawaz served as the President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) from 1999 to 2002.
