TOP NEWS

ISLAMABAD: The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Sunday declared non-provision of health facilities as core reason of deaths in famine-hit Tharparkar, ARY News reported.

The WHO released its report on Tharparkar deaths today. The report identifies lack of basic health facilities as core reason of deaths in the drought-hot district. It highlighted that it took two to four hours to the affected district through land route.

It said only two Tehsil hospitals existed in Tharparkar, while number of health centres in the district was also only two.

The report said Rs 1,000 to Rs 4,000 were being incurred on daily basis on each health centre. Shortage of doctors and paramedics along with lady gynecologists is another problem in Tharparkar, said the report.
