Lack of rains in Thar bothers Sindh govt

Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon, in an interaction wirth media before the Sindh Assembly session, said government was adopting measures to contain deaths in Tharparkar district. He, however, expressed helplessness that ‘what government can do if rain is not lashing the drought-hit district.’

He said as many as 600 children die daily in Pakistan, hence Thar situation should not be seen alone.

On the other side, MQM lawmaker Khwaja Izharul Hassan blamed the government for deaths in Thar. It’s the government negligence that has worsened the situation in the desert region, he said.

The MQM also submitted the adjournment motion in the Sindh Assembly to discuss the Thar situation.

It may be noted here that 48 children have died in last 41 days in Tharparkar due to starvation and famine-like situation.
