Lahore: 67 killed during initial 69 days of 2019
LAHORE: At least 67 people, including women and children have been killed in Lahore during the initial 69 days of 2019.
According to the police record, only 10 people had been killed during the same period last year. As per police report 23 people were killed in Sadder division, 13 in Cantt division, 12 in City division and 8 in Model Town division.
The police said that six other people were killed in Iqbal town and five in Civil Line division while 40 cases were under investigation by the investigation wing.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan, on January 6, had directed Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar to rid the police force of personnel with criminal record.
In order to bring in reforms in the Punjab Police, Khan issued several instructions to Buzdar in this regard.
He had directed the CM to scrutinize police force and identify those with criminal background. He had asked the chief minister expedite the scrutiny process.
