Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway to be inaugurated tomorrow

LAHORE: Lahore-Abdul Hakeem segment of Karachi-Peshawar Motorway will be inaugurated on Sunday (tomorrow).

Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed and Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar will jointly inaugurate the project, Radio Pakistan reported.

This is an important segment of Karachi-Peshawar Motorway that has linked up the districts of Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh and Khanewal to motorway network.

The motorway will gear up pace of socio-economic development in the areas located on its alignment besides generating new employment opportunities.

The project will also facilitate transportation of agricultural products of these areas to the big markets of the country.

On March 10, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had said that extension of Swat motorway would bring economic revolution in the province.

Presiding over a high-level meeting in Peshawar, CM Mahmood Khan had said that it will also promote tourism and industry besides creating new job opportunities in the province.

The meeting was told that Swat motorway would be expended from Chakdara to Mingora to facilitate the masses.

Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minster Mahmood Khan on January 27 had made a surprise visit to Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

During the visit, Mahmood Khan had witnessed the construction work at different points of the project and interacted with the labourers and the officials.
