Lahore: MNA’s nephew, two others killed in wedding party clash

LAHORE: An armed clash between two rival groups at a wedding party claimed at least three lives late Wednesday night here in Johar Town.

According to police account,the armed clash took place between the two rival groups attending the wedding ceremony of a nephew of Member National Assembly (MNA) Afzal Khokar in Lahore.

According to police sources,  confrontation between the members of Ashraf Bhatti and Malik Aslam groups led to a fierce brawl, soon after which an exchange of fire ensued. The lawmaker’s nephew, Imran, and his guard were killed on the spot as result of the intense firing between the rivals, police further said, adding, seven people also sustained gunshot injuries.

All the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where one of the injured, who has been identified as Shehbaz, succumbed to his wounds during the medical treatment. A heavy contingent of police reached the site and detained several suspects after the incident.

Inspector General (IG) Punjab Arif Nawaz took notice of the incident and directed Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) to submit a report on it.

The firing incident at the wedding ceremony took place in presence of MNA Malik Afzal Khokhar’s elder brother and Imran’s father Malik Shafi Khokhar and PML-N MPA Saiful Malook Khokhar.
