LAHORE: Police struggled to investigate a latest murder case of a stage actress, Kismat Baig, who was injured on Wednesday when unknown assailants opened fire at a vehicle she was travelling in, but later succumbed to her injuries.
A post-mortem was conducted on her body which revealed that the slain actress received at least 12 bullets on the night when she was attacked in Harbanspura neighbourhood of the walled city.
The victim was going back to her home after a busy workday with her secretary who was also injured in the tragic incident. He told the investigators that the armed men initially tried to drag the actress out of the vehicle before they attacked her. Baig’s secretary also claimed that the gunmen attacked him before the actress on the unfortunate night.
Police have also recorded statement of the stage actress’s security guard
Soon after the incident, critically injured Baig and her secretary were taken to Services Hospital Lahore where the stage actress died the following day.
Police said an investigation into the incident was underway after registering a First Information Report (FIR) against three suspects while raids were being conducted to arrest the culprits.
