Lahore: Protesting nurses announce to end sit-in

TOP NEWS

LAHORE: The protesting ad hoc nurses announced to end their 7-day long sit-in following the warnings of job suspension by the Punjab government, ARY News reported on Monday.

The nurses had been staging a protest sit-in outside Punjab Assembly, demanding regularization of their service. After announcement of 3-year contract service without processing through Public Service Commission by the Punjab Government, the large segment of the protesting nurses accepted the government proposal, however, around 40 nurses still opposed it and continued their sit-in, sticking to the regularisation demand.

The provincial government had given a deadline to nurses for acceptance of demands. The health department had said it would suspend contracts of nurses, who declined to accept the government offer by today (Monday).

Those accepting the contract letters had already resumed their duties at hospitals on Sunday.
