Lahore: Two women among 3 attacked with acid
LAHORE: Unknown miscreants threw acid on three people near Badami Bagh area here, ARY News reported on Sunday.
The incident took place when two women carrying a minor child were striding by the Fruit Mandi area near Badami Bagh when unknown men riding a motorcycle waylaid them, threw acid and fled the scene.
The victims, including a 3-year-old child, are said to be in a critical condition.
Police have reached the site and helped shifting the injured to a nearby hospital. Further investigation by the police has also been started.
Despite passage of a law that stipulates strict punishment to prepetrators, acid attacks in the country on both men and women are still being reported.
Meanwhile, the Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI) estimates there are approximately 1,500 acid attacks a year, globally.
