LAHORE: Strict punishments stipulated in the laws on anti-honour killings for offenders do not seem to create deterrence against the offence as two more women were shot dead in the name of honour in a Lahore neighborhood on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

Police said 35-year old Bushra and her daughter, Noor, 16, were killed at their residence in the provincial capital’s Badami Bagh area for honour on Tuesday morning.

Bushra’s brother killed the two after suspecting them of indulging in immodest activities, the police said.

“Bushra was married to Zaheer Alam six months ago after her first marriage ended. But, she couldn’t get on with her second husband. The deceased were living alone in the house,” the police said.

Bodies have been shifted to a morgue and further investigation into the twin murders was underway, however, there was no immediate details on whether the culprit was arrested.

This is the second incident of honour killing in this week as earlier on Monday, a 20-year-old girl Meerzadi was gunned down by her father in Badin district of Sindh.
