Lawyers have key role in providing justice to people: Pervez Ilahi
GUJRAT: Former Deputy Prime Minister, Chaudhry Pervez Ilahi has said that the lawyers have a key role in the provision of swift and inexpensive justice to the people. He added that Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PMLQ) wants to make Pakistan a true welfare state – ARY News reports.
He was addressing a public gathering on account of an announcement by several lawyers to join in PMLQ on Tuesday. Pervez Ilahi told that he established Prosecution Service for the first time in the history of the Sub-Continent and initiated formal legislation for Public Defender Service.
The PMLQ leader told that consumer courts were formed first time in Asia under his reign, from which thousands of consumers were facilitated.
Speaking about the provision of health and medical facilities, Ilahi stated that medical facilities were provided free of cost to lawyers and general public under his government.
He added that prior to his time; Bar Associations were never provided funds indiscriminately up to tehsil level in Pakistan.
