Lawyers go on rampage in Multan, vandalize new judicial complex

MULTAN: Dozens of lawyers went on rampage on Wednesday, vandalizing a newly-constructed Judicial Complex in Multan in protest against lack of basic facilities in courts.

A large number of lawyers gathered outside the old judicial complex, from where they marched towards the newly constructed one on Matital Road.

As they reached there, some of the protesting lawyers broke windowpanes, doors of the building and damaged furniture.

Subsequently, a strong contingent of the police personnel was called in to control the situation and prevent any untoward incident.

Condemning the incident, Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) secretary general Amir Saeed said lawyers and litigants faced immense hardships owing to dearth of basic facilities in courts.

He said there were not even benches for lawyers, litigants and visitors to sit and demanded of the administration to ensure provision of such facilities in courts.
