LDA reclaims four kanals of commercial land during anti-encroachment operation
LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Monday claimed to have retrieved four kanals of commercial land worth millions of rupees on the fourth day of grand anti-encroachment operation in the city, ARY News reported.
According to a statement issued by DGPR Punjab, the LDA claimed to have removed enroachments from four kanals of land at Shan Bhatti Road in ‘K’ block of Lahore’s Johar Town.
The LDA staff demolished unlawfully constructed, shops and other structures that had been built on around 13 commercial plots, 12 measuring four marla each and one measuring eight marlas, besides the land reserved for parking, situated in block K of Johar Town and retrieved possession of this land.
Director General LDA Amna Imran Khan visited the site to oversea the ongoing operation.
Talking to media at this occasion, she said that a country wide crackdown against land mafia has been launched on the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan which will continue till achieving the desired results.
She said that Punjab government was following a policy of zero tolerance for land grabbers as retrieving state land from illegal occupants is the top priority of the government.
She maintained that that the operation is being carried out without any discrimination and no one is being given any relief or relaxation.
Additional Director General, LDA, Rana Abdul Shakoor personally supervised the operation. Heavy contingent of police was also present during the operation along with relevant LDA officers.
It is pertinent to note here that the anti-encroachment campaign was launched from October 1 in all districts of Punjab province.
Senior provincial minister Aleem Khan while announcing the start of the campaign had said that all land mafia operatives would be nabbed while poor, widows and cart holders would be given soft corner and some margin in this regard.
