LAHORE: The sessions’ court in Lahore issued on Tuesday arrest warrants for Pakistani actress Meera and Captain Naveed for not turning up in the court in a case of controversial video clip.
A petition was filed at the sessions’ court by a citizen on January 28, claiming that a leaked video of Meera and her alleged husband Captain Naveed was in contravention of morality and Islamic principles. The leaking of the video clip tarnished the image of Pakistan worldwide, said the petitioner.
In the last hearing, the court had ordered Meera to appear in person to defend the charges, however neither she turned up nor did her lawyer file any reply with the court.
Eventually, the court issued arrest warrants for both of them today (Tuesday).
