LAHORE: Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) arrested 43 suspects during Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) across Punjab province on Saturday.

According to state radio, Rangers, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and Police – in various IBOs – rounded up as many as 43 suspects from Lahore, Faisalabad, and Dera Ghazi Khan (DG Khan).

The state radio, quoting the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR)’s statement, said that huge stockpile of illegal weapons and ammunition were also recovered from their possession.

However, no further details pertaining to identification of the suspects were shared.

In a separate incident, a blast took place at an under-construction police outpost in Peshawar’s Umeedabad area.

No casualties were reported in aftermath of the blast as it was vacant. However, the blast partially damaged the outpost, police sources told media.

On Friday, the provincial cabinet’s special committee of law and order extended Rangers’ stay in Punjab by two more months.

Rangers will continue assisting the provincial government in execution of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad and other operations against terrorists, a notification said.

This should be noted that a big cricketing event is going to be held in Lahore next month which would be participated by top-class players from around the world, hence high security and intelligence would be required to successfully stage the event.
