ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Law and Justice Barrister Muhammad Farogh Naseem on Wednesday said a legal package as promised in the ruling PTI’s 100-day agenda is ready and Prime Minister Imran Khan will soon launch it.
In a video message, he congratulated the nation and the prime minister on the completion of the tasks assigned to his ministry under the agenda.
He said although his 100 days in the office of the federal minister will end on Dec 1, he finished significant work related to the Legal Reform Agenda on Nov 6, 2018. He said he has also briefed the Prime Minister’s Secretariat regarding the completion of important legislative work.
The laws proposed in this regard are Whistleblower Act, Women Action Plan, laws related to inheritance and acquisition of succession certificates with the help of NADRA, a Bill related to Mutual Legal Assistance that remained pending for 9 years, strategies related to the public sector companies, laws to empower service tribunals, Legal Aid Authority to help the poor with appropriate legal aid, Women possessory rights and how to move the Provincial Ombudsman to support women, rent agreements and civil procedure laws to dispose of the civil cases in 2 years.
He said that support from bar associations, judges and litigants will be required in this regard and added Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch the legal package very soon.
