LHC turns down appeal of two death row convicts

TOP NEWS

The convicts Muhammad Sadiq and Hanif Gabol had attacked the Dera Ghazi Khan residence of senior politician, Zulfikar Ali Khosa back in 2009.

During the attack, 27 people were killed and 97 injured. A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) had sentenced both the accused to death on 27 counts, in September 2014.

The convicts had filed an appeal against the ATC verdict with the Multan bench of the LHC.

The divisional bench of the LHC comprising Justice Qazi Ameen and Justice Chaudhry Mushtaq conducted the hearing of the appeal on Tuesday.

The court, after listening to the arguments, maintained the special court verdict of hanging the convicts.
