LHC rejects stay order plea against Khara Such

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected a plea of Geo and Jang Group to stop the transmissions of ARY News program Khara Such here on Monday, ARY News reports.

Justice Khalid Mehmood heard the petition filed by Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman and others. Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, representing ARY News and anchorperson Mubashir Lucman, while presenting his arguments, stated that Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman has filed cases in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad in which Mubashir Lucman has been declared a resident of the respective cities which is equal to ridiculing the law.

Aitzaz Ahsan further informed LHC that the case pending in the Islamabad High Court will be heard on 9th January and they need time to file their reply according to law.

The court also rejected the plea of Geo Group to issue a stay order against the telecast of ARY News talk show Khara Sach and said that the orders cannot be issued until both parties are heard.

The hearing of the case has been adjourned till 16th January.

Speaking to ARY News, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan later said that the case against ARY News cannot be filed in LHC. He added that Mubashir Lucman is supporting his claims with evidences. Aitzaz Ahsan said that defamation claims cannot be filed against the ARY News anchorperson as it can only be filed if either of the party is telling lies.
