LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday directed the Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) and deputy commissioner to immediately remove barricades outside the residence of PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz.

A bench of the high court gave this direction on a petition seeking removal of barricades erected outside the PML-N MPA’s residence for security purposes.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till Tuesday.

A citizen, Muneer Ahmed, through his counsel Azhar Siddiqui filed the petition, naming the provincial home secretary, and Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director as respondents.

The petitioner stated that illegal barricades have been placed in the street behind the house of Hamza Shehbaz in Judicial Colony.

A generator and a chicken pen have also been placed on the public property, which is flagrant violation of the law, and is causing immense hardship to local residents, the petitioner said.

It was stated that illegal barricades have been placed on the pretext of security of the Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly.

The petitioner said that the barricades are a violation of the constitution and are against the orders of the Supreme Court. The petitioner pleaded to the court that the barriers be removed from Hamza Shehbaz’s house.
