World T20: Santner stars as New Zealand trounce India by 47 runs

New Zealand won the toss and opted to take guard in the match. They scored 126/7 in their given 20 overs.

Corey Anderson was the highest scorer in the innings as he made 34 runs from 42 balls while Luke Ronchi made 21 runs from 11 balls.

Mitchell Santner and Luke Ronchi scored 18 and 10 runs respectively for the Kiwis.

Ravi Ashwin, Ashish Nehra, Suresh Raina, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja took a wicket each in the match.

India, chasing 127 runs to win the match, were dismissed on 79 runs in 18.1 overs. Only three Indian batsmen managed to score in double figures.

Skipper M.S. Dhoni was the top scorer with 30 runs from 30 balls which included a four and a six. Virat Kohli made 23 runs while Ravi Ashwin contributed 10 runs with the bat.

Mitchell Santner was the pick of the bowlers as he took four wickets in his four overs and conceded just 11 runs.

Ish Sodhi got three wickets while Nathan McCullum grabbed two wickets.

Adam Milne took the final wicket of Nehra to end the game.

Santner was named the Player of the match for his performance with the ball.
