Women’s World T20: Edwards helps England trounce Pakistan

England won the toss and chose to bat first in the virtual eliminator. They scored 148/5 in their 20 overs thanks to an unbeaten half century by the skipper Charlotte Edwards.

Charlotte Edwards remained not out at 77 runs from 61 deliveries with 10 boundaries to her name.

Tammy Beaumont scored 37 runs from 26 balls after striking four boundaries and a six in the innings.

Danielle Wyatt and Natalie Sciver scored 17 and 15 runs respectively for the side.

Nida Dar grabbed three wickets for Pakistan while Asmavia Iqbal dismissed two English batswomen.

Pakistan, chasing 149 runs to win from 20 overs, were dismissed on 80 runs in 17.5 overs.

Nida Dar scored 16 runs from 22 balls with a boundary to her name while Asmavia Iqbal managed to score 15 runs from 22 balls with the help of a six.

Nahida Khan also hit 15 runs from 11 deliveries with three boundaries while skipper Sana Mir hit 11 runs from nine balls after hitting two fours.

Laura Marsh took three wickets for England while Anya Shrubsole, Natalie Sciver and Georgia Elwiss grabbed two wickets each.

Katherine Brunt dismissed one Pakistani batswoman.
