The report divulged that fiscal year 2013-14 did not bring any major relief for the consumers of electricity despite federal government’s initiative to inject around Rs. 480 billion. This happened due to several issues including shortage of funds, Distribution Companies (DISCOs) inability to control their losses as well as failures to show improvement in the low recovery ratios.
According to report K-Electric will face a shortfall of 1132 mega watts during next year. The report said that Nepra had fined K-Electric and other power distributors on over-billing and that power distributors had failed to curb electricity theft and improve the billing system.
