Abducted lady polio worker found dead in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: A threat to polio workers in Peshawar is looming as a lady polio worker, who was kidnapped on Sunday night, was found dead today (Monday) in the Khyber Pakhtonkhwa capital, ARY News reported.
The lady worker, Salma, was kidnapped on Sunday when anti-polio drive was underway in the city. Scores of anti-polio workers and citizens protested after the incident and blocked the Islamabad Motorway to voice their concerns.
Hundreds of motorists faced hardships due to temporary closure of the motorway on Sunday night. Police had succeeded in convincing the protesters and they dispersed peacefully.
Lady polio workers had given police a 3-day ultimatum to police to recover the abducted worker, but she was found dead.
