Maintaining law and order has become a challenge, says Shahbaz

LAHORE: As the situation is worsening in Lahore and other districts of Punjab, the Chief Minister of Punjab has said that maintaining the law and order has now become a challenge for the Government of Punjab, ARY News reported.

Shahbaz Sharif said this is the first Independence Day, which is being made controversial. He said that the situation in Punjab is a result of non-tolerance and extremism.

The situation in different districts of Punjab is worsening as the police are trying hard to prevent the workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).

On the other hand, PAT workers are not taking into account any pressure by the provincial government; they clashed with police at numerous places and uprooted all the blockades erected in their way. Doing so, PAT workers had to face baton charge and shelling by the Punjab Police.

Some provoked PAT workers set ablaze a police station in Quaidabad area of district Khushab, while in another episode in Faisalabad, protesters burnt a mobile van after clash with police.
