LONDON – Last week the hate campaign “punish a Muslim day” list was circulated anonymously in plain white envelopes and was sent to people of at least six communities in England. It caused quite an uproar and the Muslim community was left rattled.

Punish

In response to this unfortunate hate act, a citizen from Leeds, Shahab Adris was shaken by the reported letter and wanted to take action against the said campaign.

On Saturday he had this brilliant idea to come up with a “love a Muslim day” list which will eradicate the hate enlisted in the previous one. On this list, he replaced “verbally abuse a Muslim” to “smile at a Muslim”.To “throw acid at a face of a Muslim” he responded with “throw flowers on a Muslim…” and so on.

Love

“I thought, let’s turn this letter on its head. Keep the points system and turn it into something lovely,” he said.

Most of the responses on this by the Muslim community have been positive but the best have been the responses by other communities as they stand as allies with the Muslim community. “The most remarkable thing has been getting responses from people who are not Muslim, saying they will do something to help their Muslim colleague”

He further said, “as a Muslim, we always want to bring people together and love everyone regardless of their background –It could be love a Jew day, love a Christian day, love an Atheist day, love a Human day.”

This positive move was backed and supported by the Labour MP for Colne Valley, Thelma Walker, with others labeling it as a “perfect response to hate and bigotry”

This positive and love filled response by Shahab Adris have been shared widely on all the social media platforms and it is being praised for its positive front worldwide.
