KARACHI: One man was killed on Friday allegedly over his son’s love marriage in Karachi, ARY News reported.

Family of the victim said since the Fazal Mehmood’s son had solemnised the free-will marriage with Nosheen, therefore, the bride’s family had killed him.

Police said the victim was the regional head of the House Building Finance Company (HBFC). They said the suspect had fired six bullets. They said one 30-bore pistol round shell, and six 9-mm pistol round shells were recovered from the site of the incident.

“One 9-mm magazine and eight rounds were also recovered,” said police. Body was handed over to heirs after post-mortem.

Talking to media, Nosheen said her father and brother had been threatening her ever since she married Sunny on March 13. She said they both used to study at a university.

She blamed that her brother Siraj killed her father in law. He carried illegal weapon, she said.

She said her father was a chief of Pannu Aaqil area and he had also opposed the marriage.

In November last year, a couple was shot dead for marrying out of their own freewill in Rawalpindi.

Police had said unidentified assailants in a car opened fire at the couple identified as Akhlaq and his spouse Ramsha, critically injuring them. They had succumbed to gunshot wounds on the spot.

The police had said the couple had recently tied the knot out of their own freewill. Efforts were underway to arrest the culprits, the police had added.
