CHINIOT: In a heartbreaking incident, a man strangled his five children to death and later committed suicide in Chiniot district of the province of Punjab on Tuesday.
The incident happened in the jurisdiction of Muhammadwala police station in Chiniot, when Muhammad Hussain, an official of a secret agency strangled his five children, before strangling himself, said police officials.
The dead children included one daughter and four sons.
According to area residents and police officials, Hussain had been estranged from his wife, who had left for her parents’ house, a month ago.
Police feared family issues might have forced Hussain to take the extreme step of killing his own children and hanging himself.
Meanwhile, police have started an investigation into the case after shifting bodies of the family to a nearby hospital.
