GUJRANWALA: A man was allegedly poisoned to death by in-laws over some marital dispute with his wife in a Gujranwala neighborhood, ARY News reported on Saturday.

The deceased man’s wife had gone to her parents’ house after a quarrel with him over some domestic issue, his family members said.

When Iqbal, father of five, went to placate his wife, her family members made him ingest poisoned food, which resulted in his death, they alleged.

Subsequently, the deceased’s family members staged a protest demonstration on Sialkot Road, suspending vehicular movement.

The local police were said to be holding talks with the protesters to persuade them to end their sit-in.

Separately, a three-year old girl died after her throat was slit by a glass-coated kite string in Lahore. The incident occurred when the minor victim was travelling with her father on a bike near Yateem Khana Chowk.

Mahruk, aged 3, was taken to a hospital in Lahore where doctors pronounced her as dead.

Meanwhile, police have registered a first information report (FIR) of the incident against unknown people.
