ISLAMABAD: State Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Wednesday former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz was raising the public concerns through her tweets, denying an impression of slandering judiciary.

Talking to press outside an accountability court here, Aurangzeb apparently backed Maryam Nawaz’s ‘controversial tweets’ that she made during Imran Khan’s appearance before the Supreme Court yesterday (Tuesday).

“Maryam is voicing the public concerns; if justice is being done, it should be evident to all,” Aurangzeb maintained.

On Tuesday, ex-PM Sharif’s daughter appeared upset and frustrated at the judicial system for granting bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in different cases while reserving a verdict in the disqualification case.

She vented her anger on her official twitter account stating that Imran Khan’s case was far more serious in terms of legal implications than ‘Iqama joke’ and the nation was now waiting to see the decision in his case.

She also posted the screen grabs of live TV transmission showing the remarks of Chief Justice of Pakistan that the top court was not in a hurry to announce a judgment in disqualification cases against Imran Khan and Jehangir Tareen.

Complaining about ‘dual standard of justice’, Maryam said all standards of justice were for the Sharif family since the court was in hurry to take a decision against Nawaz Sharif in Panama Papers, resulting in his ouster as the premier.

“There is no question from others for skipping the proceedings; no one even asks the absconder (Imran Khan) for evading court proceedings for last two years [in cases concerning attack on PTV, parliament, SSP Asmatullah Junejo],” she underscored.
