ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Wednesday said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has fulfilled his promise to the nation after ensuring his appearance before the court.
She was talking to press at judicial complex when she remarked it is beyond her understanding as why doubts and questions were being raised on ex-PM Sharif’s appearance before the court.
“First it was complained that Sharif was skipping the court proceedings, now his appearance is being question,” noted Aurangzeb.
She was responding to questions as to why ex-PM Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar appeared before the court despite an exemption from personal appearance for a month.
“Opponents have been making unwarranted hue and cry over the issue, [however] Sharif has been fulfilling his promise after appearing before the court,” she said.
Moreover, she reiterated that Sharif was being subjected to political victimization for a pile of false corruption cases filed against him.
On the occasion, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader and senator Asif Kirmani said those demanding to minus Nawaz Sharif are now standing nowhere.
The PML-N senator was referring to Nawaz-specific amendment to election law which was rejected by the National Assembly on Tuesday (yesterday).
